Lawrence J. Svihla, D.C. was born in Downers Grove, Illinois. In the 1970s, Larry injured his back lifting a heavy boat trailer. After seeking chiropractic treatment for his own back, he developed an interest in helping others prevent and treat their injuries with chiropractic care. He went on to become a graduate with Honors from The National College of Chiropractic located in Lombard, Illinois in 1981.

After passing the Diplomat National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, Dr. Svihla began looking for a small town atmosphere with plenty of scenery and water in which to start his chiropractic practice. It was then that Larry founded the Poquoson Chiropractic Clinic in 1981. After moving into the community, he was invited to become a member of the Poquoson Kiwanis Club, where he has been  a member for 20 years.

In 1999, Dr. Svihla opened Svihla Chiropractic, P.C., located on Wythe Creek Road in Poquoson. Larry's hobbies include water sports, flying helicopters and airplanes and driving his H1 Hummer. After all his clinic hours, Larry volunteers for the Civil Air Patrol. He is a Captain in this auxiliary Air Force Program where he supervises and pilots with cadets on their first flights. Dr. Svihla completes 30 hours of continuing chiropractic education each year. Dr. Svihla has just opened his new location at 200 City Hall Avenue in Poquoson.

Staff: We have 2 certified massage therapists on staff, as well as 4 chiropractic assistants and a full-time office manager.
